FRANKENWOLLE - Sustainable, regional, and fair.
regional
We buy our raw wool directly from Franconian shepherds and process it in Germany.
transparent
The production of our FRANKENWOLLE is traceable from the sheep to the finished hand-knitting yarn.
eco-friendly
Short distances reduce CO₂ emissions. We avoid plastics in production and packaging.
goal
The goal is to establish FRANKENWOLLE nationwide through specialist trade partners (retail) and wool fairs.
fair
Animal welfare, nature, shepherds, production, and finally our trade partners – all should be taken into account.
vision
We are giving our Franconian wool value again! Local yarn and products made from Franconian wool should be prominent once more.
FRANKENWOLLE - A natural air conditioning system for the body.
Wool is an ancient and natural raw material. It is partially self-cleaning and water-repellent. Additionally, it is antiseptic and completely biodegradable.
A sweater made from sheep’s wool can warm or cool its wearer, depending on the current outside temperature. This makes it a very popular material: Frankenwolle is essentially a natural air conditioning system for your body.
Our regional wool is produced in Germany from Franconian raw materials.
OUR FIRST PRODUCTION 2020
Regionally thought
Local sheep’s wool is mostly plowed under as fertilizer or used for natural insulation. Only a very small portion of the annual shearing is processed into yarns and clothing.
In retail, wool from overseas is predominantly sold under German brand names, often mixed with synthetic fibers (e.g., polyamide).
With FRANKENWOLLE, we aim to provide a purely natural and regional product in response to this
MERINO HERD IN THE RHÖN
FRANKENWOLLE
Dyed and spun
FRANKENWOLLE avoids the addition of synthetic fibers and exclusively uses our local sheep’s wool. In our spinning mill, the wool is spun, dyed, and twisted according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
OUR YARN IS MADE ENTIRELY OF NATURAL FIBERS
The story
In October 2020, we proudly launched our first production in the new warehouse. Sales were set to begin, and then came COVID with lockdowns and cancellations of markets and fairs…
Nevertheless, we decided to continue and process the next shearing from 2021.
To finance the second production, we started a crowdfunding campaign and were thrilled by the immense support we received.
With the proceeds from the vouchers, we were able to partially finance the new production, and the first production was thus partially sold.
Support local retailers. Buy regionally!
You can also find our wool in retail stores.
